Traverse Theatre

Before the Edinburgh Festival last year some friends of ours at the Traverse Theatre decided they needed to give their bar a bit of a spruce. It hadn’t changed for a long time and was starting to look a bit tired. The problem was they were doing it on a seriously tight budget so they brought us in to help them update the look and feel of the place with what they had lying around or what they could do within budget.

With these restrictions, we aimed to keep it simple. Starting with a bit of a paint job and the stripping back of some of the old decor to reveal the bare bones of the building. We used some hanging blackboards from the theatre’s production department to break the space up and show information about whats on, put together some new menus that matched up with the new more industrial feel of the place and added a colour scheme to the wall panelling that makes the place feel quite cosy. We also have some new tables on the way which are waiting on the boards to be pulled up from the chef’s loft! More pics of those to follow….

Our pal Eoin took the photos for us.
