This project carried out for Bacchus was to design and implement a flooring concept for the main reception area and British Fashion Council (BFC) Lounge in the main tent at London Fashion Week, Somerset House. We also designed, built and installed the reception desk for the entrance to the BFC lounge.
The main challenge while designing this project was in offering a flooring concept and desk to sit comfortably with the existing interior design and without visually interfering with the key sponsor lounges that surrounded the reception area. The simple pixel theme tied in well
with existing stylistic elements and allowed the well worn ply floor panels to be shown off. We tested various finishes for largely unknown conditions to ensure the stencils would last in good condition for the full week. The install of the floor and desk was carried out by Not Tom overnight in time to be finished and dry for opening to the public the following morning.
“Bacchus commissioned Not Tom to develop a floor treatment for the reception area of the main London Fashion Week Show Space at Somerset House. They carefully considered the brief and sensitively designed a solution that was visually stunning, meticulously researched and developed and entirely in keeping with the overall aesthetic. Harry and Richard are talented, dependable and have their fingers bang on the design zeitgeist.”
